Best Friends Animal Society, one of the largest, most progressive animal welfare organizations in the nation, currently offers a professional shelter assessment as part of its “No More Homeless Pets Program”.
For over 25 years, BF has worked with individuals, animal organizations and agencies throughout the country to bring about a time when homeless, unwanted animals are no longer being killed in shelters, and when every healthy, treatable or manageable dog or cat can be guaranteed a good life in a caring home.
The BF assessment is conducted by animal shelter professionals who head their own modern, life-saving public shelters.
These innovative directors help create a customized plan for the animal services agency and the community. They help develop the programs and services required to achieve a no-kill shelter. They provide support and mentoring during the implementation process.
At Multnomah County Commissioners request, Multnomah County Animal Services can have the opportunity to benefit from the Best Friends’ assessment. The assessment could be a catalyst for change at MCAS and the turning point the public has so long desired.
Gimme Shelter Portland will be requesting that the Multnomah County Commission seize this rare opportunity as a sign of its commitment to improving MCAS for the citizens and animals of this community.
